Live in NYC

Monumental As good as it gets Great sound, great performance. If you think Dave Navarro is a reality show pretty boy, watch him wail all over this blu-ray. Perry is his always interesting self. Drumming is to die for. Sound quality really renders what their live show sounds like. Glorious!! Excellent !, Best Jane's DVD ever ! The band is super tight and the video and audio quality is awesome ! Dave and Perry still sound amazing together after all these years ! This Blu-ray totally rocks ! JANE'S ADDICTION - LIVE IN NYC 2011 Recorded back in July 2011, three months before the release of their fourth studio album "The Great Escape Artist" Jane's Addiction played the intimate setting of New York's Terminal 5 in partnership with electronic manufacturer LG to show off the use of 3D technology and is not from the bands 2012 Theater of the Escapists tour. Now two years later after being shown on U.S TV on numerous occasions, the concert gets an official Blu-...

Caged Angel

Image
A Heavenly Season with an Angel from Los Angeles, one from San Francisco, and the other from Boston The fourth season of CHARLIE'S ANGELS, which aired on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC from September 1979 through May 1980, is possibly the season that yields the most dramatic changes in the series, namely Shelley Hack becomes the newest angel, "Tiffany Welles", filling the slot vacated by original actress Kate Jackson. Returning for another tour of duty this season are "Kelly Garret" and "Kris Munroe", played by Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd respectively, along with faithful sidekick "Bosley", played by David Doyle. Farrah Fawcett's "Jill Munroe" also makes her final three appearances of the series. With the new angel, also comes a new overall look to the series. With Hack, a former fashion model, on board, all three actresses don dresses, gowns, and tailored suits more often than casual wear. And while attention is taken away from ...

Liar, Liar [HD]

The original was better with the facts By training, my background is in neuropsychology and cognitive psychology. I enjoy these programs because they present a modern, fun, and interactive way of communicating information. I use these in many of the courses that I teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level. However, I am noticing a lot more factual errors than from the original miniseries that was narrated by NPH. In the most recent episode on persuasion, Apollo does a demonstration where the host is put in one of 12 boxes, and the audience chooses a number between 3-12 and and the remaining boxes get destroyed and amazingly, the one with the host doesn't. While it's a neat trick, it's a simple number trick. It has nothing to do with influencing an individual's decisions. It's a minor nitpick, but I end up explaining to my students how their depiction is in accurate. Again, not a problem per se as I turn it into a learning moment, but the overall quality of...

Glasgow UCOS

Image
It Seems New Tricks May Be 'Getting To The End Of The Day' As had been quite clearly flagged up at the end of the previous series, Series 9 included the first change of personnel amongst the four main characters since the show was launched in 2003, as Jack Halford retired from UCOS. However, he did appear in the first episode just to tidy up the circumstances of his departure. We had to wait until Episode 4 to meet Jack's replacement, DI Steven McAndrew played by Denis Lawson. He is a hard headed Glaswegian who has been drafted in to help the team. McAndrew is completely different from Jack Halford, and I think the script writers made absolutely the right decision here and it would have been a mistake to try to clone Jack which would have resulted in the inevitable and constant comparisons. Apparently James Bolam, who played Jack Halford, wanted to leave as he felt the show had become stale. I would beg to differ as the script writers have continued to come up with s...

Doors Slamming and Things Breaking

My husband stayed awake!! My husband falls asleep for almost every movie we have ever watched. We recently purchased this because my co-workers were raving about the show. I was a bit reluctant because I don't want to see animals killed.....but the show is FANTASTIC!! Kudos to the producers! We watched the entire first DVD without even thinking about stopping it and going to bed. It was edge-of-the-seat thrilling and fascinating, enhanced by beautiful scenery that few of us will ever see firsthand. This set was worth twice what I paid for it - excellent drama! There are some truly funny scenes in it as well - they lose contact with their zodiac which has gone to harass a Japanese ship in the dark. They become so desperate that they actually call the Japanese ship to inquire whether they have seen the zodiac. Ok that's enough for the spoiler. If you live in an area where you cannot get cable, as we do, consider this for top rate entertainment. Sea shepherds...heros or renegade ...

too short for the same cost as the 40 min shows this is 20 mn like long island medium and too much money I think for the value when you get longer shows for same cost A real family This show feels less scripted than the housewives. The housewives have to interact etc. This is a family, like them or not, what you see is what you get.. Gosh I love her... In am so happy and she deserves all that she has... may she be so always blessed. The show rocks... Great mom, and man did she score with getting an outstanding man for her and her family. I will always watch her... she is gorgeous. Tiffany Victoria Click to Editorial Reviews

Mike the Knight and the Flying Corgis/Mike the Knight and the Knightly Welcome [HD]

Fun! My girls love it! The digital copy is slightly inconvenient and simultaneously convenient. We will probably buy another season soon. Kid friendly We don't like our kids watch just anything. This is one of the few cartoons that are truly kid friendly... Only thing they probably could have made a little softer on the eye were the ogres and dragon... My son LOVES Mike the Knight! Great show! Good lessons. Better than most kids shows. I wish there were more products available in the US. Be a knight and Do it right! Click to Editorial Reviews

Overlooking a Forlorn Shore

Image
Even more exciting and dramatic than season 1 "Whale Wars Season 2" is about Sea Shepherd's 5th Whale Defense Campaign "Operation Musashi" in Antarctica. The ultimate aim of Captain Paul Watson and his crew is to save endangered whales from the Japanese whaling fleet and to sink it ECONOMICALLY, that is, bankrupting it by interfering with the whaling activities as long and as intensely as possible. Over the last three years Watson and his crew have managed to do so and prevented the whalers from taking half their self-assigned quota of whales. The Japanese government has to spend large amounts of money to support this illegal activity which means whaling is now even more of a serious economic liability for them than ever before. There was a lot of controversy over the Japanese claim that their whaling activities are "scientific research". In an interview (December 2009) with The Australian newspaper and Australian Broadcasting Corporation the Japanese...

The Thrill of the Chase [HD]

Great Action Documentary These are real people doing the best that they can with the money that they have in some incredibly nasty conditions against some really nasty people. For all of those reviewers that say "don't see this", all that I can say is that is an ideologically driven answer. This is a documentary, not an action drama movie. The filming is fantastic, the behind the scenes gives you all of the information that you need. And both sides of the conflict are presented as far as they are capable of doing. As far as the crew and their "incompetence", remember again that these are real people, not actors, no scenes are rehearsed and these are not Navy Seals with a million dollars of training, operating a billion dollars of high-tech equipment. Most of them have real jobs the other 9 or 10 months of the year, from all walks of life and paid nothing. They have a driven sense of what is morally right that most of us would abandon after a few days. Well...

Devil Went to Georgia [HD]

Image
Buzz Kill This has so many inaccuracies it was hard to watch. I knew almost all the people involved and the real story is a little more intricate. The producers didn't even get the towns this happened in right. There are other shows on this murder that are a little more accurate. (Just a little). It makes me suspect of their other episodes. Kudos to the investigators There was a lot of information gathered by the makers of this show. Too bad they chose to "Hollywood" it up. It would have made a better show if they would have stuck to the facts and didn't give the people on the show personalities they didn't really have. The Colegroves were nice people, apart from Steven. The primary inveestigators did a fantastic job in gathering evidence, and interviewing the suspect (not that I am biased in any way...) If you want to know what really happened, read the news reports of the trial. They are much more accurate than this made for entertainment TV "show". N...

The Guards

Great Series I loved this gritty PI drama from across the pond. There is so many levels in these episodes you'll have to pay vary close attention, but that only adds to the satisfaction at the end of the second series. I can't wait until the third season comes out. Unfulfilled Promise Although the plots are engaging and Jack Taylor character - portrayed by Iain Glen - has a certain appeal, there are weaknesses in the writing that prevent this series from it's true potential. It has so little confidence in itself that by the third episode it becomes a self-parody. site. If you can't bear to miss it, note that this series is streaming with subscription (gratis) on another well-known site. Click to Editorial Reviews

Big Sisters

Great show but stick with the original version Okay, so the original Power Rangers is a wonderfully cheesy show. It's full of bad acting, ridiculous enemies, goofy moments, and of course the always lovely Pink Ranger. If you like B-movies, you'll like the Power Rangers. That being said, go with the original version instead of this "special season" version. They've added in extra frames which clash horribly with the show. the best show Brings back good childhood memories watchin it with my son. I greatly enjoy watching them all over agian I can't wait to get season 2 Somewhat different than you may remember While the level of cheesy mid-rate acting remains true to the memory, the corny additional graphics and occasional freeze frames they've added ultimately lessen the experience. Still, it's fun to take a trip down memory lane from time to time. Click to Editorial Reviews

Wild West Rangers, Part 1

Here's what to expect from the latter half of season 1 This review is written by a totaly blind viewer. Yes, I used those words together in a sentence. So don't expect anything too terribly visual here. That also means I won't be discussing picture quality and all that technical stuff either. Bores me to tears anyway. Anyway, on with the contents of this set. My mega boxset from Timelife arrived a day or so before I happened upon this preorder and am writing this review as of 8-14-2012, and it contains this exact same title, naturally. So here's what you'll be getting should you purchase this half season set from run of the mill DVD joints or amazon.com this November. You'll get the remaining 30 episodes that comprise the second half of season 1. 31. Calamity Kimberly 32. A Star is Born(First MMPR episode I ever saw back in May of 94 as a rerun of course, so this one holds a special place in my heart for getting me hooked.) 33. The Yolk's on You...

Dream Dog Park

You too can have a beautiful yard - with twenty-five guys, an endless budget and semi-decent design skills I am not a huge fan of makeover shows so whatever it is has to really grab me with thoughtful design (a good elemental "program"), good infrastructure and decent finish technique. That's a pretty high bar but why else watch to learn from a show? I know, it is like opening up a gift to see what is under that wrapping paper. This landscape show loosely, from the one episode I watched, adheres to the client's desires adding a bit of pop to give them what they didn't know they needed in the first place. The materials choices are o.k. with the plants being the weakest aspect. Rather than running to the finish line, I think these types of programs would do better to take their time, real time as opposed to television time with a crew of 25, to take care of a quarter acre yard and make the achievement more rewarding.
